A generation ago, students did not have the option of ordering custom written essays to help with their school requirements. So this begs the question: If there were students who can pass their courses without using custom written essays, what advantage does this give those who do? Is this simply an issue of not being diligent enough to do one's coursework, of passing a course without really working on its assignments such as essays?
On the one hand, it can be argued that in higher education students really have to strive for good marks, because their future employers will take a look at their scholastic records to assess their potential as members of the employer's organisation. When a student's chance of achieving a good mark is diminished due to such factors as fatigue from juggling too many assignments, unexpected illness or family emergency in the middle of the term, lack of knowledge in the subject or lack of writing skills, the easiest remedy is to order custom written essays in order to make the work easier for the student.
On the other hand, requesting custom written essays may also not contribute towards developing the skills that students are supposed to acquire as a result of doing the essay writing project. This is because custom written essays provides a sort of “short cut” which will make the student do away with steps in the research and writing process, which is the most difficult part of the essay project but which also allows the student to learn crucial skills in analysis, time management, development of ideas, and doing research. In addition, custom written essays also cost money, which is a resource that many students do not have in abundance.
In the end, however, it is up for the student to decide depending on his or her individual circumstances. The important thing is to use custom written essays only in the way in which they were intended, which is to be a guide for the student's own essay writing. Plagiarism is an academic mortal sin that has a lot of negative results to anyone caught doing it.
